Invisalign® in Newtown Square, PA
If your teeth are crooked and out of alignment but you don’t wish to deal with years of bulky and unattractive braces, Invisalign may be the clear choice you desire. Invisalign is often called “invisible braces” because the aligners are made from a clear, lightweight material that slips over the teeth without the need for any brackets or wires.
Dr. In is a Certified Invisalign Provider who has the training and experience to create beautiful, straight smiles. Call us today at (484) 458-5392 to schedule a complimentary Invisalign consultation. You’ll leave your appointment knowing how Invisalign could help you or your family member have a gorgeous smile.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
The simple answer is that teeth are moved into place using a progressive series of Invisalign aligners – each aligner is in a slightly different shape that moves the teeth slowly and gently toward their ultimate destination.
After your Invisalign consultation, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and send it to a dental lab. Using the data shared by your dentist, the lab produces the necessary number of progressive Invisalign aligners by using the latest advances in 3D computer technology and manufacturing methods. How many aligners are made and how long you’ll have to wear the aligners depends on the complexity of your specific case.
Typically, you switch to a new aligner every week or every other week, following a routine set by your Invisalign dentist. You’ll return to our office in Newtown Square for check-ups and to pick up more aligners about every four to six weeks.
For the best results, it is recommended you wear your Invisalign aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them when you eat, drink, brush or floss. You should also remove the aligners if you smoke.
Once the treatment is complete and you’re able to flash your new smile, it is generally recommended that you wear a retainer, just as you would if you’d worn braces, to maintain the proper alignment of your teeth. Be sure to discuss this with your dentist.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
The most obvious benefit of Invisalign is that the product is virtually invisible; people may not even notice you’re wearing Invisalign. Other advantages include:
- There are none of metal brackets or wires that come with braces that can irritate your mouth, and no rubber bands are required.
- Because there are no brackets or wires to be adjusted, you’ll make fewer visits to our Invisalign dentist in Newtown Square.
- You can remove your aligners when you eat or drink, allowing you to enjoy certain foods – such as popcorn, nuts, corn on the cob, hard fruit, chips and hard, chewy candy – that aren’t allowed when wearing traditional braces.
- Removing your aligners gives you the advantage of more thoroughly brushing and flossing your teeth in ways that can’t be done when wearing braces.
What is Invisalign Teen®?
Invisalign Teen is designed for teenagers who have their permanent teeth. It’s a popular solution for teenagers who play sports, play musical instruments, or simply prefer the look of clear aligners over metal braces.
Invisalign Teen is very similar to Invisalign in how it is made and how it works, but includes a few key differences. One is that Invisalign Teen aligners include a small, color-changing element that is visible to the dentist. This allows our Invisalign dentist to tell at a glance whether the teenager has been wearing the aligners for the recommend amount of time.
The other difference between Invisalign and Invisalign Teen is that more replacement aligners are usually provided with Invisalign Teen just in case a set gets broken or lost.
How much does Invisalign cost?
Only your Invisalign-trained dentist can provide you with a cost, which is based on your individual needs. In general, however, the cost is consistent with that of braces.
Factors that influence the cost may include your treatment goals, the length of treatment, the number of aligners you need, and the complexity of the case.
Insurance coverage for Invisalign differs from policy to policy, so it’s suggested you review your policy or call your insurance carrier to see if it’s covered. Typically, however, a policy that covers orthodontics will also cover Invisalign.
A flexible spending account (FSA) can help minimize your costs by allowing you to put $2,550 of pretax dollars toward the cost of your Invisalign treatment.
For those without insurance coverage or the means to pay the entire amount up front, ask our team about a plan for flexible, affordable monthly payments.
